Find Top 5 Ways to Apply Shampoo the Right Way with Help of GIFs
Lather, rinse, repeat. Easy right? Well, apparently not, because people the world over are washing their hair wrong. The result is hair that is dry and dirty, and scalps that are oily or completely zapped of moisture. (Hello, dandruff!)
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, we’re going to show you how to shampoo your hair properly in GIFS.
Take note! And take back your beautiful tresses.
1. Rinse, First!
This will open up the hair cuticles and allow the shampoo to properly penetrate, cleanse and moisturise the hair shaft. So before shampooing, really rinse your hair with warm water.
2. Long & Strong? Condition BEFORE You Shampoo!
What now? Conditioning your hair before you shampoo? Well, if you have long hair, you should! Coat the ends in a liberal layer of conditioner, and let it soak in for a minute or two. Then rinse lightly, then shampoo. And YES, you’re going to condition again after.
3. Scalp Only
Now it’s time to shampoo. Resist the temptation to lather up your entire head of hair; stick to the scalp. The hair closer to your scalp is the youngest and oiliest. It needs the deepest cleansing. The older hair at the tips doesn’t need the same sort of treatment and would benefit from less aggressive cleansing.
In fact, avoid aggression altogether. (What did your hair ever do to you?) Be gentle to your locks. Tough love will break your hair, resulting in damage and frizz.
Oh, and it should go without saying you should select one of the best quality shampoos if you want a great result.
4. Condition Mid-Tip
Next, you’re on to conditioning. Read that: no need to rinse and repeat. This is overkill and can strip your hair and scalp of its shine boosting natural oils. Go straight to conditioning, but only use the product from the middle length of your hair to the tip. That newer hair at the base doesn’t need extra moisture and can actually look oily if you douse it in conditioner. The more mature hair, however, needs all the love it can get.
5. Cold Rinse
Finally, rinse the conditioner out of your locks with a cold water rinse. This will seal up your hair’s cuticles, keeping the moisture in, and helping your hair look shiny, thick, and vibrant.
Follow these five steps and enjoy healthier, cleaner, and more manageable. Say bye-bye to bad hair days — or at least see less of them.
